Ride with Team MindSpring
By David Easter
I've added a ride to the calendar for this Sunday May 16th, leaving from
Parkway Pointe at 9:00 AM. It's listed as a Team MindSpring training ride.
If you've thought about racing but weren't sure if racing was for you, this
is an excellent opportunity to ride with the team and find out more.
We'll be working on team tactics on this ride. Here's the format:
- The route is 50-60 miles long with two ten-mile sections suitable for a
race course (few turns, no stops, clear start and finish landmarks).
- Of the riders that show up, nominate two or three of the most
experienced racers as team captains.
- Divide the rest of the riders amongst the teams round-robin
(playground) style.
- Discuss tactics for a few minutes, warm-up on the road for 30 minutes
or so, then race the first ten-mile course.
- Take a rest stop to review and plan for the next segment.
- Ride out and race the second ten-mile course.
- Ride back to the start.
Please let me know if you have any questions. Hope to see you there.
