By Sheila Miller
The sixth annual Bike Sheila (no ego intended) will be April 18, 19, 20, 1997. We will leave Emerald Isle at 7:00am on the 18th and ride to Cedar Point where we will catch the Ferry to Ocracoke. Spend the night wining and dining in Ocracoke but to bed early enough to catch the 6AM ferry to Swans Quarter. The second day we will ride to Oriental. For those of you with fleet feet a century is possible, but for those of us not willing to risk missing a ferry it will be a little shorter route. Sunday we head back to Emerald Isle. The last day is the shortest milage, so you still have time to get back to Raleigh and rest up for work on Monday.
It's important to sign up in advance and early for this ride. We do stay in hotels - so you can get by with a front back if you aren't a clothes horse. This is a self supported ride, which means your bike needs to be in good repair, and you should carry a spare tube at least. There are gas stations and small towns along the way to stop for refreshments.
We do need to know as soon as possible if you are interested because one night hotel accomodations are limited in Ocracoke and Oriental. For more information or to commit, call us at 851-9256 or e-mail at sheila7004@aol.com. Wayne and Sheila Miller will be your ride leaders. Pace is ferry dependent.
