These are the notes from the December 12th, 1997 meeting of the NCBC.
The meeting was convened at (then) vice-president Henri Bohl's home in conjunction with the NCBC Christmas party. (Then) president Jim Fredley presided.
The first order of business was the election of the 1998 club officers. Jim announced the slate of candidates:
Webmaster David Cole explained about the trailer that he recommended the club purchase. He said that it is a Haulmark 5'x10' trailer from Raleigh Hitch. He said that he chose this vendor "partly because they've been in business for a long, long time and partly because their prices are so good." He said the price of the trailer would be $1955, including everything. David explained that the trailer would be kept at ex-club president Sheila Miller's house. It will be used to store club-owned rally equipment, including coolers, tables, a tent, and more. The attendees discussed the need for comprehensive and collision insurance. Henri promised to check.
David said that he will be the 1998 Spring Rally director. The rally will be held on April 19, 1998 and will start from Bond Park. David said he is thinking about offering a sports bag and brought two samples. David explained that he is targeting three distinct groups for this ride:
For the second group, David plans a 15-18 mile ride with three SAG stops. He said he welcomes all comments and participation.
The Summer Rally will be held on July 19. Sheila will be the director. The Fall Rally director is Henri Bohl.
David Saussy announced that he had passed the responsibility for the club-owned rental bike cases to Danny Thomas. He said that one case was in good shape and two were "pretty beat up." He recommended that the club purchase two new cases to replace these. He said that the cases are very popular. He has had all three rented at once. He suggested that the club raise the rental price from $1.00 to $2.00 per day. He volunteered to research how much new bike cases cost and report back to the membership at a future meeting.
Henri said that Alan Woodall would like to retire from his two-year stint as hot line coordinator. The attendees debated retiring the hot line from use in favor of the club WWW page. The opinions of the membership are solicted.
